     Singapore ESS and BIO Trip

January 1st around 1’o clock we were supposes to gather in the airport. Everybody had arrived
but one person was missing everybody waited and waited. Everybody kept calling the missing
person.  After the long wait the missing person had arrived and it was ‘ME’. I had arrived about
one hour late to the airport. Everybody had checked in but Caroline miss accompanied with her husband
was waiting for me. After checking in my luggage we joined with rest of our group.
Our group consisted of 16 students, 2 teachers and miss Caroline’s husband had also joined us.
After filing forms and passing through the immigration process we got into Silk air. As we got in it
was announced that our flight would be delayed for half and hour. It took us about 5 hours to reach there
but I spent my time having long distance conversation with sadish and nirakar who were seated in front
of me.  On 2nd of January, which was our 1st day in Singapore, we started by writing our expectations as
an IB student, Ess student and for myself. We visited different places and then finally we went to
Garden by the bay. It was such a beautiful place I found it very unique. We visited two different
domes which helped me understand so much better of what we were taught in our Ess class about
different biomes. We visited places like NEW WATER where they collect Singapore’s sewage water
and covert into clean drinkable water.  We had gone through the whole factory and the instructor
clearly explained us all the process that takes place, how does the machines work to purify the water.
This gave all of us a shock, as we had never heard before sewage water being turned into clean drinkable
water. We had gone to China Town where we had our food challenge; we were divided into two groups.
Our group leader was Simran and other teams group leader was Subeksha. There were about 50 to
60 restaurants in the food court and we had to find about 15 dishes. 15 dishes too seemed impossible to find
in such a crowded place. My team consisted of  Simarn as our captain, Varun, Himanshu, Shreya,
Raunak, Nirvan, me and we were escorted by Miss radha. Our team did collect around 12 food items
and all our teammates tried it but sadly we dint win. Trying the different dishes was such a good experience
all the different reactions everybody made. Science city has such cools things that we don’t get to complete        the whole tour as we had our imax movie to watch. The documentary movie did teach us different
ways we can preserve and protect animals form extinction. After the movie we quickly went to snow city where I had one of the best time of my life. We had pay for this huge water proof jacket, gloves, pants
and boots which protected us form cold as it was freezing gold inside. Universal studio where everybody
was so excited we spent about around 10 minutes just taking pictures of the globe. As we entered
universal studio it had started to snow there was this long line just to take pictures with the adorable
minions. We tired all the different rides and watched the different shows. But sadly the fire works had
been canceled.  Palawan beach was so beautiful we had such a great time swimming but sadly sadish lost
his go pro. We spent our last day in the Singapore zoo it was so big and very different form other zoo’s.
They dint have cage where animals were locked in the zoo was open yet the animals were staying
peacefully inside. We were so lucky that we even got behind the scene tour where we got to learn so
much about how the zoo functioned and how they took care of their animals. The instructor has explained
us very carefully and showed us different medicines and machines used for the animals, we even went to
the animal’s kitchen and learnt so much about different animals diet.

These 7 days in Singapore have been wonderful firstly I would like to thank  Caroline and Radha mam
for guiding us and taking us to such a wonderful place and apologizing to everyone for arriving late in
the airport. I have learnt and discovered such wonderful  things visiting here.  It has helped me understand
my subject well and gain new ideas about different  topics. Beside the understanding my subject well I have learnt a lot of different things too.  I feel that I  have become more open and sharing with everyone.
I feel that everyone in the trip have become close to  each other  as we hardly talked before. This trip
has bee so amazing and will always be remembered by me and am sure everyone who went along.

                    Nayno sansar

Miss rubeena had given the six of us a big responsibility. The six of us were Varun, Tshering, Aayushma, Aanandita, Avi and me. We had been selected to help an organization named Nayno sansar. Nayno sansar was is an organization that I had never herd before but I was really excited to be a part of it, Miss Rubeena had just explained us about how this organization was formed to help the people of Saptari, Siraha, Mahottari, Rautahat, Dhading, Chitwan, Bajura distributing around 1000 blankets, countless clothes and medical services to the sufferers in the worst-hit. As they’re more than thousands of people who are dying in rural areas of Nepal, which has been caused by, lack of warm clothes the nayno sansar team had this hope to make a change.
I wanted to get more information about the organization so I started to research about it. I was really impressed and touched as the organization had done such a great job with helping the needed people. Reading articles, looking at pictures made me think how lucky person am I but I still keep complaining that I have don’t have enough. As pictures speak a thousand words the people who were receiving blankets and clothes had such a big smile on their face and I understood so much form it. Our team started by creating posters and sharing videos of nanyo sansar so they understand what the organization is about and would help us. We also started spreading the news to people around us so they too would help us. We had made a donation box and kept it in the IB library so everybody would help us and am sure even if they donated a little made them happy as they had they were helping us so we all as students too could help to make a change in other people lives. We had organized a meeting in the library where we talked about what were we planning to do and that we wanted everyone to cooperate and help us. After a week we had collected about six thousand. We wanted more so we thought of having a bake sale. So after arranging all the things we had our bake sale where we had great job, we have earned a double of what we had invested.
We were very happy of what we had earned in joust one day.
This gave us more encouragement and hope that if we try more we can do better and help more people. Kim too decided to help us so she baked brownies and sold it and gave all that she earned to our group. We would like to thank her as she had helped us to help more people than we expected, we as team really appreciated her contribution. After few days Miss Rubeena had invited Mr. Max who was the founder of this organization. I was really glad to meet him as for me he was a person to admire he is just a ordinary person like us but had done something different that none of us had done.  After he had give his speech I got more interested in this organization. He had explained us how he had started this organization and what inspired me the most was that he dint not want the people to act like beggars and beg for blankets, clothes, he dint not want them to depend on him. He did not want to make an organization like any other where they donate and leave. He wanted to make the people responsible and make them capable to earn their own living so he requested all of them to make two straw mattresses and in exchange they would earn blankets and clothes they needed. Our group had handed him what we have achieved and thanked us we had conversation for a while, then it was time for him to leave.
We as a team had decided that we would not end here and keep helping this organization. I would like to thank Miss Rubeena for selecting my teammates and me, as it has been a great experience helping this Nayno sansar.
